THE TRUTH WILL MAKE YOU ODD
A SOUTHERN GOTHIC LITERATURE DISCUSSION
ANDREW K. CLARK with KATHERINE OXNARD ELLIS
A one-of-a-kind, in-person conversation plays out between Savannah author Katherine Oxnard Ellis (The Leg in Question) and southern gothic poet and novelist Andrew Clark. The program coincides with the release of Clark’s new novel, Where Dark Things Grow, a Depression-era Appalachian story that blends horror, folklore, and magical realism. The conversation pushes beyond the confines of the novel to reveal the genre in all its spooky, southern richness.
Andrew K. Clark’s “people” have been in western North Carolina since before the American Revolution. Clark is the author of the poetry collection Jesus in the Trailer. Where Dark Things Grow is his debut novel.
Katherine Oxnard Ellis is an award-winning Savannah writer whose short story collection, The Leg in Question, will be published in 2026. She won the Tennessee Williams and New Orleans Literary Festival’s first prize for her short story “Belle of the Ball.”
