Everyone knows about the U.S. invasions of Canada during the Revolution and the War of 1812. Few know of other tense episodes and potential flashpoints such as the Aroostook War and the Pig War, which nearly escalated into full-scale conflicts but which were resolved though restraint and diplomacy.
