A CONVERSATION WITH DR. JOHNNETTA BETSCH COLE, CONDUCTED BY WANDA LLOYD
5:30 pm | Reception at 5:00 pm | Thursday, January 30 | $10

Johnnetta Betsch Cole, Ph.D.—anthropologist, educator, museum director, and college president—will join Learning Center member Wanda Lloyd in a conversation about the heritage of Abraham Lincoln Lewis, Dr. Cole's great-grandfather, an entrepreneur, humanitarian, philanthropist, and Florida's first African American millionaire. Over his lifetime, Lewis established many businesses, and he founded American Beach, a vacation destination for African Americans during the days of segregation.

Wanda Lloyd is a retired newspaper editor and leader in journalism education. At one time a senior editor at USA Today, she has also worked in editorial positions at the Washington Post, Providence Evening Bulletin, Miami Herald, Atlanta Journal, and more. In her retirement, she wrote her memoir, Coming Full Circle: From Jim Crow to Journalism.
