RUSSBOROUGH
Discovering an Irish House
Linda McWhorter and Roger Smith
3:00 – 5:00 pm | Thursday, February 13 |
Russborough, a 1740s Irish country house built by Richard Cassels in County Wicklow for the First Earl of Milltown, is an outstanding example of Palladian architecture, enhanced by unique interior stucco moldings and accents. Equally importantly, Russborough tells the stories of the Earls of Milltown and (in the twentieth century) of Sir Alfred Beit. The house’s art collections include European painting masterpieces alongside important suites of furniture, silver, and porcelain. This vicarious visit captures the spirit of Russborough.
