Amid increasing polarization and diminishing occasions of meaningful exchange comes A Civil Tongue: Dialogue Across Differences. This refreshingly dynamic course employs selected readings, group discussions, curated classroom activities, and interactions with guests to encourage curiosity, teach deep listening, and create empathy to bridge barriers of race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation.

Rossie Norris earned a master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Washington. She taught in higher education for more than thirty years and frequently facilitated courses in race, class, and gender. She retired to Savannah from Seattle in 2005.
Joseph Wheeler holds a master’s degree in community health education from The Ohio State University. He has extensive experience facilitating conversations about equity and inclusion. In recent years his primary focus has been on anti-racism and gender equity.
