Five months after the founding, Savannah was in trouble, losing settlers to a mysterious disease. Dr. Samuel Nunes, part of a group of Jewish refugees, saved the day.
Bruce Cohen is a retired epidemiologist who has researched the long history of Jews in Savannah.
