FAVORITE POEMS FROM HISTORY

Leigh E. Rich, Roger Smith, Marc Thomas, and YOU!

4:30 – 6:00 pm | Wednesday, August 13 | Free to all

In addition to evoking human emotions and universal truths, poetry has the power to transport readers to the past—recent or distant, real or imagined—in which characters of old come to life and events unfold to teach the lessons of history. Explore the theme Favorite Poems from History in its broadest possible iterations, from the Iliad and the Aeneid to modern protest poetry—and anything in between!

  • The success of this poetry reading depends on TLC members and friends to volunteer. If you would like to (briefly) explain the significance of a poem to a friendly gathering and then read the poem aloud, contact Roger Smith at rsmith@seniorcitizens-inc.org.
