Jimmy Stewart’s acting career spanned five decades. Known for his drawl and everyman persona, he embodied the “American ideal” in the mid-twentieth century. A selection of his best known films will be critiqued. The Glenn Miller Story features Stewart in the role of Glenn Miller and his orchestra, a prominent part of the swing era of the 1930s and 1940s.
