THE GREEKS AND THEIR FOUNDATIONS

Richard Braithwaite

1:30 – 2:30 pm | Wednesdays | September 24 through November 19

Laying foundations in philosophy, science, literature, and other disciplines, the ancient Greeks are unsurpassed in their contributions to western society. Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle are joined by Democritus, Ptolemy, and Pythagoras to form the basis for this investigation into Greek culture and its indelible marks on humankind over the ensuing millennia.

A companion course in Greek mythology with Hugh Parker is found on page 20.

Richard Braithwaite is a novelist, lecturer, and teacher. His undergraduate degree from Dartmouth and his master’s degree from the University of Florida are in literature and fiction writing. He has led more than a dozen courses at The Learning Center.

  • This program is limited to 25 participants and not open to individual session attendance.
