NOTABLE COMPOSERS OF THE LATE ROMANTIC PERIOD

The late Romantic period features numerous memorable composers including Cecil Chaminade, Isaac Albeniz, Ignacy Paderewski, Paul Dukas, Alexander Glazunov, Carl Nielsen, Jean Sibelius, Erik Satie, and Enrique Granados. This course combines biographical information with representative musical masterpieces, most from landmark recordings and a few performed live on the piano by the instructor.

Warren Heilman holds degrees from Kent State and Georgia Southern Universities. He served as a school band director in the Savannah-Chatham County public school system and has been musical director for a number of productions in a variety of Savannah-area play­houses. He regularly teaches music history and appreciation at The Learning Center.
