BRENDAN MURPHY, Founding Director of the Bearing Witness Institute | 2:00 – 4:00 pm | Sunday, January 4 Reception follows | Free to all | Advance registration requested
A sweeping journey through art history and cultural milestones, this landmark lecture examines the Christian anti-Judaism that has plagued societies across centuries. From medieval pogroms to Holocaust horrors, the presentation invokes key moments in European history that collided with Jewish experience, emphasizing the resilience of historic communities in the face of adversity. Stunning images, engaging narratives, historical accounts, and thought-provoking analysis reveal the underlying ideologies that have fueled antisemitism. Yet the program culminates in celebrating contemporary efforts to set Jewish and Christian communities on new paths of genuine friendship and understanding.
Award-winning educator Brendan Murphy is the founding director of the Bearing Witness Institute for Interreligious and Ecumenical Dialogue at Atlanta’s Marist School, where he has taught history since 1994.
