MUSIC OF SOUTH AMERICA
Wednesday Courses | Available
Warren Heilman
1:30 - 2:30 pm | Wednesdays, January 7 through March 4 |
This course is not open to individual session attendance.
This course encompasses the forms and styles of the widely divergent cultures of the countries of South America. Specific forms—the tango, samba, bossa nova, and cumbia—are woven together with specific composers of these forms, as well as more mainstream South American composers in the classical traditions. Of course, each style, tradition, and composer is accompanied by curated recordings of the music!
Warren Heilman earned a BM in music education from Kent State University and holds an MS and EdS from Georgia Southern. A retired band director, he has been a musical director of Bay Street Theatre, Collective Face Performance Ensemble, Savannah Children’s Theatre, and Armstrong State University.
