Every Savannahian knows “The Globe,” that quarter-ton gas storage tank at DeRenne Avenue and White Bluff Road. Though its appearance has changed over its 70 years, the biggest transformation of all was its 2023 preservation, spearheaded by city alderman Nick Palumbo and underwritten by businessman Greg Parker.
