Genealogical researchers Kate Black and Courtney Walsh bring enthusiasm and experience to this beginner-friendly course, helping participants start their family history journey with easy-to-access resources and databases, learn strategies to avoid pitfalls, and enjoy the excitement of new discoveries. The course introduces genetic genealogy, showing how DNA complements traditional research. Each session includes one hour of instruction followed by a half-hour for individual questions and personal guidance.
Kate Black is a retired urban planner and architectural historian who holds a genealogical certificate from Boston University.
Courtney Walsh studied human ancestry, genetics, and evolution at The Johns Hopkins University and Yale University.
