JAZZ: A HISTORY
Wednesday Courses | Available
Warren Heilman
1:30-2:30 pm | Wednesdays April 1 through May 20
The invention and evolution of jazz as a genre and phenomenon is the topic for this survey of a uniquely American musical tradition. Cultural and historical contexts play a key role, as do major musicians and their diverse styles. And of course, recordings of great jazz performances make this a lively exploration.
Warren Heilman earned a BM in music education from Kent State University and holds an MS and EdS from Georgia Southern. A retired band director, he has been a musical director at Bay Street Theatre, Collective Face Performance Ensemble, Savannah Children’s Theatre, and Armstrong State University.
