The Renaissance conjures scores of visual images, and indeed the art of the period repre­sented tectonic changes to the world of painting and sculpture. Literature played an equally revolutionary part, as did innovations in architecture and ever-evolving political entities and strategies aiming toward a modern world order. This course evokes the spirit of the Renaissance in all its nuances.

Richard Braithwaite is a novelist, lecturer, and teacher. His undergraduate degree from Dartmouth University and his master’s degree from the University of Florida are in literature and fiction writing. He has led more than a dozen courses at The Learning Center.
