William Faulkner, James Joyce, Ralph Ellison, and Cormac McCarthy redefined literature through their mastery of prose, bending language to reflect and shape reality, and creating timeless masterpieces whose art turned seemingly impossible human experience into tangible literary achievement.

Richard Braithwaite is a novelist, lecturer, and teacher. His under­graduate degree from Dartmouth University and his master’s degree from the University of Florida are in literature and fiction writing. He has led numerous courses at The Learning Center.
