Savannah traditions held strong in the early 1900s, despite enormous societal changes. Woman suffrage was one of those changes, and the ladies who gathered for tea with Mrs. Meldrim had plenty to say. Two short lectures inside the Green-Meldrim House (upstairs in the Bride’s Room) feature Luciana Spracher and Roger Smith on the topic of suffrage in Savannah and in Georgia, followed by a costumed tea in the main rooms of the house where participants mingle with women from a century ago, overhear their conversations, and enjoy light eats and tea.

Jamie Credle is director of the Green-Meldrim House Museum. Across more than 20 years, she has brought best practices to museums in the South, including inspiring volunteers and directing award-winning living history programs.

Luciana Spracher is the Archives and History Officer for the City of Savannah. She manages the extensive archival collections at City Hall and shares Savannah’s rich history through a diverse public outreach program.

Roger Smith is founding director of The Learning Center. Prior to joining Senior Citizens in 2006, he was director of education at the Georgia Historical Society.
