The University of Arkansas Cello Day aims to give cellists an opportunity to?participate in workshops, a masterclass, and a performance. Performances will be given by U of A cello professor Dominic Na, the U of A?Cello Ensemble, and the Cello Day Ensemble. This is the perfect opportunity to develop your skills as a cellist, meet others who share your musical interests, and learn new repertoire.

Na, Dominic

Dominic Kyungseu Na was born in Seoul, South Korea, to a musical family, which his father is a luthier and his mother is a violinist. Dominic attended the most prestigious music schools. In Russia, he attended the Central Music School for Talented and Gifted Children under the supervision of St. Petersburg State Conservatory—alumni of the school include such notable composers as Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich. His education in music continued at the Konservatorium of Vienna, Austria, and at the Musikhochschule Luebeck with one of the world's finest cellists Lynn Harrell. Dominic holds a konzertenexamendegree, the highest musical arts performance degree in Germany. His impressive study pattern didn’t stop there; he also studied chamber music with Miguel Da Silva, the founder of Ysaÿe quartet, as well as earning an Artist Diploma with celebrated artists such as Andres Diaz, Eugene Osadchy, and Christopher Adkins in the United States. Since his debut as a soloist in the age of 13 with the St. Petersburg Radio Symphony Orchestra, Russia, Dominic had performed worldwide, accompanying some of the world’s most talented musicians and performing with a wide variety of ensembles and orchestras, not to mention his solo performances. He performed at many historical performing venues in Europe, such as Bolshoi Philharmonia Hall, Kappela Hall in Russia, KonzerthausWien, Boesendorfer Hall in Austria, Smetana Hall in Czech Republic, Brahms Institute in Germany. An award-winning artist, Dominic is also an educator with over a decade of experience in teaching cello. His extensive experience allows him to cater to students of all levels and of all walks of life as he helps them achieve their full potential on the instrument. Dominic was appointed as cello professor at the University of Arkansas in 2016, and he is married to Eun Seo Park who is a fine violinist currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Texas at Austin.

Cellist Eugene Osadchy is hailed as having "the most refined and balanced string playing" by the New York Times and has been called "a paragon of Russian élan" by the Vancouver Sun. Newsday writes he is "a soloist with a clearly defined musical personality" and is noted for his"extraordinary playing" by the Dallas Morning News. "Mr. Osadchy possesses a very rich tone and is steeped in the great classical tradition. It is good to know that there are ardent keepers of the flame." The New York Sun. Currently Professor of Cello at the University of North Texas, Eugene Osadchy is a principal cellist with the Plano Symphony and the Dallas Chamber Orchestra. He is also the Artistic Advisor of the Vetta Chamber Music Series in Vancouver, Canada. Eugene Osadchy regularly performs and gives master classes throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia, and South Africa. He has performed at the Carnegie Hall, the Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center, and the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. In addition, Mr. Osadchy makes frequent appearances at the Bargemusic series in New York, the Autumn Classic series in Anchorage, Alaska, Chamber Music International in Dallas, Strings in the Mountains at Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and at the International Niagara Music Festival in Canada. Mr. Osadchy has also performed in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. He has participated in numerous music festivals around the world including the Amsterdam and Groningen International Festivals in Holland, the Stellenbosch International Music Festival in South Africa, Music at Blair Athol in Scotland, the Castel Franko di Veneto Festival in Italy, the Mozart Festival in Woodstock, Illinois, as well as Vancouver, Victoria, Banff, Seattle, Sitka, Durango, the Mozart Festival in Long Island, NY and Maui Music Festivals.
