6557 Food Fun: Explaining Labels, Claims and Weird Ingredients

Science & Technology | Unavailable

Do food labels feel like reading a foreign language? Rebecca Harter will explain the purposes of ingredients that read like a chemistry test. Not all additives are evil. Whether on a box, pouch or jar, Rebecca will share an overview of what they all mean. She'll explain familiar and new claims on today's food labels. You'll

never look at low fat or non-fat in the same way again.

Rebecca Harter

Born and raised in Indiana and received a BS in Secondary Education from Purdue University. A post-grad internship directed me in the food industry immediately where I have contributed in some way to at least 2,000 products in market for humans and pets. Past roles have been Product Development, Nutrition Affairs,

Regulatory and Commercialization Director, Sensory Scientist. Completed master's work in Nutrition at Chicago Medical School while at Kraft Foods, and other past company homes include Kellogg, Johnsonville, Gehl Foods, Bellisio Foods and Mars Petcare (in Franklin, TN). Left the corporate life in June 2018 and now consult out of my home, serving food industry clients mostly with regulatory support.
