Soft Pastel Painting & Drawing (III)
Adult | Available
Beginner and experienced painters alike will enjoy drawing and painting with soft pastels from photographs or still life. Weekly demonstrations include discussion of the medium as well as individual painting instruction. Soft pastels are a dry form of pigment mixed with a binder to hold the color together. They offer the same bold color as oil paints minus the liquid and the mess.
Linda Wolitz
Linda Wolitz's preferred painting medium has been pastels since her first art class in High School. She paints portraits and wildlife, because “[she] delights in capturing the inner self of the subject. Each one is special, and [her] challenge is to bring forth that uniqueness. Every painting is a celebration of life.” Linda has found additional challenges in landscapes and still-life painting. Working in pastels, colored pencils, and graphite, her award-winning paintings reproduce the spirit of her subjects in a style that is almost three-dimensional in effect.
Since 1987 when she began painting full-time, she has painted commissioned portraiture and wildlife paintings in Virginia and Florida in addition to being the official portrait artist at Cypress Gardens. Linda Wolitz is presently showing her work at Crossroads Art Center, in Richmond, Virginia. Wolitz has been fortunate to have won many awards and been published by the Virginia Museum of Natural History and Virginia Tech. Wolitz was featured in Mature Outlook magazine and her artworks hang in private and public collections from Florida to Alaska.
