This three-week class will introduce the student to basic skills needed to quickly and easily sketch fashion from photos, TV, red carpet events, and even real-life fashion modeling.
Students will be taught to draw the basic center axis line from where figure locations are plotted (shoulders, bust, waist, hips, etc.). Every sketch begins with a frame! Once the frame and “stick figure” is realized, then students can learn to bend this axis line to give their models poses and movement. A “secret technique” will be shared to further enhance this skill.
The second hour of the class will further develop this “croquois” (French, for Fashion model, a common name used by designers in their workroom). This portion of this class will focus on filling in the body. The students will learn to bend these stick figures into different poses, layout out the next steps of designing clothes. Students will also learn to draw the face, eyes, nose, lips, hands, and feet on their models.
The final portion of the class will be experiencing the fun of putting clothes on their model! Handouts will be provided, detailing different types of fabrics and their forms (drapes, tucks, etc....)
