Through demonstrations and hands-on painting, we’ll work from reference photos and learn how to simplify and interpret what we see rather than simply copy it. Watercolor techniques will include wet-into-wet, graded washes, glazing, and creating luminous transparent color. Gouache will introduce the ability to work opaquely, make corrections, and build shapes with greater flexibility. Students may work exclusively in watercolor, gouache, or combine the two to discover what works best for their individual style. The goal is to loosen up, make confident choices, and keep the painting fresh and spontaneous while developing a strong foundation in composition and design. All levels are welcome.
