Expand your cultural horizons by watching and discussing award-winning French films produced during the early 2000s. We will begin with Le Valet, described as a “sinfully delicious bonbon” followed by The Intouchables, a Golden Globe Nominee for Best Foreign Language Film of 2013, and based on the true story of an ex-con who is hired to take care of an eccentric French aristocrat. Les Choristes, nominated for Academy Awards in both the Foreign Language Film and Best Song categories, is a sentimental tale that follows the arrival of a new teacher at a remote boy’s school in 1949 France. Le Petit Nicolas follows the antics of Nicolas and his friends. Au Revoir Les Enfants tells the heart-breaking story of friendship and devastating loss between two boys living in Nazi-occupied France.
