The Art of Storytelling: Folktales & Fairy Tales

Folktales and fairy tales appear in every culture. They present the hopes and struggles of everyday people within the garb of mystical elements on a legendary scale. This course is a companion to Art of Storytelling with a specialized focus on the folktale & fairy tale genre. The course will include discussions on folktales & fairy tales, the difference between the two, and the opportunity for students to workshop a folktale or fairy tale for performance.
Misty Mator
Misty Mator is an award-winning storyteller with over ten years of professional experience. She has a degree in Written & Performative Storytelling from Geneva College, and has performed for Pittsburgh’s EQT Children’s Theatre Festival, the Women’s Storytelling Festival in D.C., the Beaver Tales Storytelling Festival, and the Stone Soup Storytelling Festival, along with many other schools, libraries, and festivals. She has given workshops on storytelling for the national organization Story Crossroads, Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Midland, PA, and Carnegie Mellon University.
